EPISODE 47: The Wisconsin J-Horror Massacre
This Week:
On October 31st, Mike, Sylene, and new co-host Mai, attempted to record an Halloween-themed episode. What occurred was the most terrifying, blood-chilling, most horrible experience ever recorded on a podcast. As a result, this episode was locked and sealed away, never to be heard from again…that was, until now.
Featured in this episode: A look at the Devilman franchise and why you should avoid the 2004 movie like Macross Zero, 8 J-Horror Films To Die For, an all-girl Visual Kei band, and Satanic Care Bears.
PRODUCTION NOTES
-This episode had so many production snags and has been the cause of so much stress that I’ve come to the conclusion that we’d better win an award next year. That and this is yet another episode that nobody better not bitch about.
-The J-Horror List and the Devilman Review took the longest amount of time to produce, namely because of procuring clips and music. The Devilman review alone took two days to produce.
-If I hadn’t thought of it months in advance, the recent GeGeGe no Kitaro film would have been in the Target Scope segment. Meh, maybe next time.
-This episode marks the first in-show appearance of Mai, our new “Tokyo Liason”. What exactly does that mean? You’ll just have to wait and see…
-Turns out that the Apocalypse of Devilman storyline came about a separate manga entitled “AMON: Darkside of Devilman”. Knew I was a bit rusty >_<
-Yes, my cheering at the end of the J-Horror list is in fact a reference to Dogma. Specifically, this scene…
-Special thanks goes out to Aimnemesis from The Grudge LJ Community and Morigan666 from Galbadia Hotel for their help with procuring the Ju-On and Ring soundtracks.

well, it was pretty good. Albeit a litle late.
Selene did a good job, although , no offense, her voice does get a little annoying. please don’t kill me.
anywho all in all good.
I assume this means a turkey day themed episode aint far behind?
At least the parts i could listen to.
Damn thing won’t let me listn to more thana few min.
I actually liked the dawn of the dead remake…
I just count it as a “…of the dead.” movie as much as Shaun or Return. i.e. It isn’t but it is still a good movie.
James bond being a time lord is a funny suggestion…It would be accurate if it wasn’t explained that James bond is a code name.
Scott,
I give the Dawn of the Dead remake credit for only one thing; the ending credits sequence. After that, nothing else is worth favoring
Glad to see versus on here. Absolutely loved this movie. When I think about the ending though..heh…laser sights on a katana….
C’mon, Mike. Really. From Dogma?

Unless you meant using it in that context, in which case, nevermind.
